Context Merewether like most beachside suburbs on the Australian east coast has under gone a significant redevelopment over the past decade. This property was part of a larger development build in the early 90’s and suffers from poor orientation, with large areas of glass to the western façade. Brief The goal of this project is to take this existing home and make it more liveable and to significantly alter the street appeal. The internal spaces also need replanning to better use the outdoor areas available, capitalise on north easterly breezes and accommodated space of family gatherings. Proposed internal changes gain greater cross ventilation and reorientation of the living areas to extend out to the front courtyard area. It has also required moving the front entry to allow this to work.

Response
This has translated to sheltering the western façade from the sun, while still allow some view out this windows. The images above show the various options put forward.
